Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent required.
• Tertiary engineering/automation related education.
• 2+ years in petrochemical/chemical processing.
• 3–4 years in a distillation plant.
• 3–4 years hands-on with SCADA and PLC.
• Proficient MS Office skills.
• Knowledge of PSM frameworks.
• Shutdown experience: 0–2 years.
• RCA and NCR experience: 0–2 years.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Plant Operator to work in and maintain a solvent distillation plant on behalf of a client in JHB - Eastern Suburbs. The successful candidate will closely collaborate with the technical maintenance and operation team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee continuous distillation processes
• Monitor critical operating parameters
• Optimize production efficiency
• Hands-on experience with SCADA and PLC systems
• Interpret trends, alarms, and interlocks
• Utilize strong computer literacy (MS Office)
• Demonstrate knowledge of PSM frameworks (e.g. OSHA act)
• Coordinate with maintenance and engineering during planned maintenance turnarounds and unplanned shutdowns
• Apply root cause analysis (RCA) and NCR for continuous improvement

Job Requirements

• Grade 12
• Relevant tertiary education in Engineering, Management, or Automation Process Experience
• Minimum 2 years in petrochemical/chemical processing
• At least 3 years in a distillation plant environment
• 3-4 years overseeing continuous distillation processes
• 3-4 years hands-on experience with SCADA and PLC systems
• 3-4 years strong computer literacy (MS Office)
• 3-4 years demonstrated knowledge of PSM frameworks
• 0-2 years exposure to shutdown experience
• 0-2 years experience with root cause analysis and NCR
