Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Plant Operations Manager for a major manufacturing client based in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role combines remote oversight with frequent travel to the Richards Bay plant to ensure safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement across production, maintenance, and quality control.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor in Engineering and 8+ years in plant operations, with proven Lean/Six Sigma experience, ERP proficiency, and strong leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all daily plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality control, and safety.

• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and HR departments to optimize plant performance.
• Monitor plant equipment and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Drive initiatives for process improvement and technological upgrades within the plant.
• Report on plant performance, KPIs, and operational challenges to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical) or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in plant operations management within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record in managing production, improving efficiency, and reducing operational costs.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, industrial safety, and environmental compliance.
• Experience leading and developing teams in a plant setting.
• Proficiency in plant management software and ERP systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Strong understanding of budget management and financial reporting.
