Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management or related field.
• MBA or Master’s degree is a strong advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive industrial operations management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Experience in manufacturing processes, production planning and supply chain within an industrial sector.
• Proven P&L responsibility and ability to drive operational improvements.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent industrial manufacturing company located in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal , is seeking an experienced and results-driven Industrial Operations Manager. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining high standards of safety, and achieving strategic business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, a deep understanding of industrial processes, and a proven ability to manage large teams and complex operations effectively. This is a key position for driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.


• Develop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity, quality, cost-effectiveness, and safety.


• Oversee production planning and scheduling to meet customer demand and optimize resource utilization.


• Manage departmental budgets, controlling costs and identifying opportunities for financial savings.


• Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of production supervisors, engineers, and operational staff.


• Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control procedures.


• Implement and promote Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives across all operational areas.


• Manage relationships with key suppliers and contractors to ensure the smooth flow of materials and services.


• Monitor operational performance through key metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.


• Drive a culture of safety, quality, and accountability throughout the operations department.

Requirements
