Job summary

The Mediclinic Southern Africa Vanderbijlpark Hospital is seeking a qualified pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services to in-hospital patients and the public, in line with SAPC regulations and internal policies.

Responsibilities include ensuring medicine availability, efficient stock management, safe medication delivery, and outpatient pharmacy service; a 1–3 year hospital pharmacy background is preferred.

• Essential education: B Pharm / B Sc Pharm / Dip Pharm.
• Desirable education: None.
• Essential minimum experience: N/A.
• Desirable experience: 1-3 years in a hospital pharmacy; stock management and distribution.

• Ensure efficient stock holding of medicines and scheduled substances.
• Deliver a safe and efficient medication service.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide a comprehensive, professional, and cost-effective pharmaceutical service to in-hospital patients and the public, in full compliance with applicable legislation, SAPC regulations, and internal policies and procedures.

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Relevant Pharmacy legislation (e.g. Pharmacy Act, Good Pharmacy Practices; Medicine Control Act 101 of 1965)
• Knowledge of the pharmacy and related healthcare industry
• Ethical and surgical product knowledge
• Ethical stock control practices and principles
• Knowledge and experience working with relevant pharmacy systems (e.g. UNISOLV, AS400 & SAP)
• Training and mentoring
• Medical Aid Scheme benefits, regulations and formularies
• Pharmacology, including Clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardships
