Job summary

Mediclinic is seeking a pharmacist to provide a comprehensive pharmaceutical service to in-hospital patients and the public in full compliance with applicable legislation, SAPC regulations, and internal policies.

The role includes ensuring medicine availability, accurate dispensing, efficient stockholding, and delivering a safe medication service along with outpatient pharmaceutical care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Pharmacy Act and good practices.
• Understanding of medicines and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with hospital pharmacy operations and formularies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure medicines and scheduled substances are available.
• Ensure accurate dispensing in a hospital setting.
• Maintain efficient stock holding of medicines.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide a comprehensive, professional, and cost-effective pharmaceutical service to in-hospital patients and the public, in full compliance with applicable legislation, SAPC regulations, and internal policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances to stores and the public
• Ensure accurate dispensing
• Ensure efficient stock holding of medicines and scheduled substances
• Deliver a safe and efficient medication service
• Provide an outpatient pharmacy service

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: B Pharm / B Sc Pharm / Dip Pharm

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: N/A

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy

• Relevant Pharmacy legislation (e.g. Pharmacy Act, Good Pharmacy Practices; Medicine Control Act 101 of 1965)
