Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Pharmaceutical Quality Control Technician to support production in Queenstown, South Africa. This hands-on role involves routine testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.

You will operate with guidance from QC Analysts and Managers, apply accurate testing methods (HPLC, UV-Vis, titration), document results, calibrate equipment, and adhere to GLP and GMP standards in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related science field.
• 1–2 years in a quality control laboratory, preferably in pharma.
• Familiar with basic lab techniques and instrumentation (HPLC, UV-Vis, titration).
• Knowledge of GLP and GMP practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine analytical tests on materials and finished products using established methods.
• Document results, deviations, and observations in notebooks and LIMS.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to specifications.
• Prepare reagents and solutions for testing procedures.
• Follow safety protocols and SOPs in the lab.
• Assist in investigating OOS results and deviations as directed.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and precise Pharmaceutical Quality Control Technician to support their operations in Queenstown . This hands-on role is essential for performing routine testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet strict quality specifications and regulatory standards. You will work under the guidance of Quality Control Analysts and Managers, contributing to the overall quality and safety of pharmaceutical products. The ideal candidate has a strong foundational knowledge of laboratory techniques and a meticulous approach to work within the demanding environment of the pharmaceutical industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine analytical tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished pharmaceutical products using established methods and instrumentation.
• Accurately document all test results, observations, and deviations in laboratory notebooks and LIMS systems.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and performing according to specifications.
• Prepare reagents and solutions required for testing procedures.
• Follow all safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within the laboratory environment.
• Assist in the investigation of Out-of-Specification (OOS) results and deviations as directed by senior staff.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related science field.
• Previous experience (1-2 years preferred) in a quality control laboratory, preferably in the pharmaceutical sector.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, titration).
• Understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
• Good record-keeping skills and basic computer literacy.
