Placements24 is seeking a Pharmaceutical Process Engineer to optimize manufacturing processes in Paarl, South Africa. You will design, validate, and scale processes, ensuring compliance with cGMP and safety standards.

Strong experience with reactors, dryers, filtration, and unit operations is essential. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and at least 6 years of pharma process engineering experience.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Pharmaceutical Process Engineer to optimize and manage their manufacturing processes in Paarl . This role is critical for ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant production of pharmaceutical products. You will be responsible for process design, scale-up, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background combined with a thorough understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing principles and equipment. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within the beautiful winelands region of Paarl and contribute to the operational excellence of a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize pharmaceutical manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Oversee the scale-up of laboratory processes to pilot and commercial manufacturing scales.
• Develop and execute process validation protocols and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot process-related issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Collaborate with R&D, QA/QC, and Production teams to ensure seamless process integration and continuous improvement.
• Maintain detailed process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and batch records.
• Ensure all processes comply with cGMP, safety, and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process engineering within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, equipment (e.g., reactors, dryers, filtration systems), and unit operations.
