Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Pharmaceutical Process Development Engineer to join our Polokwane team. The role focuses on designing, optimizing, and scaling up manufacturing processes for new pharmaceutical products, bridging lab development and commercial production.

You will collaborate across R&D, manufacturing and QA to ensure robust, compliant processes and successful tech transfer, enabling innovative medicines to reach patients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering or related discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in pharmaceutical process development.
• Strong knowledge of granulation, tablet compression and sterile filling.
• Experience with process validation, scale-up and tech transfer.
• Proficiency in SPC and Design of Experiments (DoE).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new drug products and formulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process development within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies (e.g., granulation, tablet compression, sterile filling).
• Experience with process validation, scale-up, and technology transfer.
• Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and DoE (Design of Experiments).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement in Polokwane.
