Job summary

FullServe seeks a qualified Safety Officer to oversee health and safety on a pharmaceutical depot refurbishment in Kimberley. This high-sensitivity environment demands strict safety protocols for construction, material handling, and operation within an active pharma facility.

The role requires site-based duties from day one, implementing safety plans, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring OHSA and Construction Regulations compliance. Previous GMP refurbishments are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Relevant safety qualifications (SAMTRAC/NEBOSH or equivalent).
• SACPCMP registration as Safety Officer (Construction) – mandatory.
• 3–5 years' experience on refurbishment or retrofit projects.
• Based in Kimberley or able to report within 24 hours of offer.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
• Experience with GMP pharmaceutical/healthcare refurbishments.
• GDP knowledge for pharmaceutical storage.
• ISO 45001/14001 internal auditor training.
• HIRA and incident investigation certification.
• First Aid Level 2 and Fire Fighting certificates.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the Site-Specific Safety Plan for the refurbishment project.
• Conduct daily risk assessments for refurbishment activities (demolition, electrical, scaffolding, painting, HVAC).
• Ensure compliance with OHSA, Construction Regulations 2014, and depot safety requirements.
• Manage safety for contractors, sub-contractors, and depot personnel in shared zones.
• Inspect access points, fall protection, dust control, and fire prevention measures.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses; report to Principal Contractor and Client.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks and site inductions for refurbishment staff.
• Maintain a complete safety file with appointments, risk registers, and logbooks.
• Liaise with Depot Safety Representative on restricted zones and emergencies.
• Stop unsafe work immediately and escalate to Project Management.

Education

SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent safety qualification

SACPCMP registration (Safety Officer - Construction)

First Aid Level 2 and Fire Fighting certificates

ISO 45001 or 14001 internal auditor training

HIRA and Incident Investigation certification
