Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance on construction sites in Klerksdorp and surrounding areas. You will develop, implement and monitor safety programs to safeguard workers and visitors, fostering a safe working environment that supports operational excellence.

The role requires SA qualifications (SAMTRAC/NOSA Diploma), 5+ years in construction safety, and in-depth knowledge of the SA OHS Act.

Qualifications

• Familiar with South African OHS Act and construction rules.
• Strong communication, training and report writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain site Health and Safety Management System.
• Conduct inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel and subcontractors.
• Ensure adherence to safety policies for employees and visitors.
• Maintain records of training, inspections and incident reports.
• Advise management on health, safety and environmental legislation.
