Job summary

Placements24 in Bloemfontein, Free State, is seeking a compassionate Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to diagnose and treat speech, language, feeding and swallowing disorders in children within a multidisciplinary team.

The role involves developing individualized therapy plans, educating families, maintaining documentation, and staying current with best practices. A Master’s in SLP and SA registration (HPCSA) with at least three years of pediatric experience are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Registration with HPCSA in South Africa.
• Minimum of 3 years of pediatric clinical experience.
• Experience assessing and treating pediatric speech-language disorders.
• Experience with feeding and swallowing evaluations is desirable.
• Strong documentation and counseling skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose speech, language, swallowing, and feeding disorders in children.
• Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on assessment findings and family goals.
• Provide direct speech and language therapy services to children of various ages and developmental levels.
• Educate and train parents/caregivers on strategies to support their child's communication and feeding development at home.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated patient care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans.
• Stay current with the latest research, techniques, and best practices in pediatric speech-language pathology.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development opportunities.
• Advocate for the needs of children and families within the center and the wider community.
• Adapt therapy approaches to suit diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
