Job summary

Placements24 in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, seeks a dedicated Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to diagnose and treat communication disorders in children. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop effective therapy plans and support families.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology, current SA board registration, and at least 4 years of pediatric experience. Relocation to Nelspruit or residing locally is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
• Current registration and licensure with the relevant professional board in South Africa.
• A minimum of 4 years of clinical experience exclusively with pediatric populations.
• Demonstrated expertise in assessing and treating various pediatric communication disorders.
• Proficiency with a range of diagnostic tools and assessment instruments.
• Excellent clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and treatment planning skills.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and independently.
• Compassion, patience, and a genuine commitment to child development.
• Reside in or be willing to relocate to Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments for pediatric clients.
• Develop individualized and evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each child's needs.
• Provide direct therapy services to improve communication skills, including articulation, language comprehension and expression, fluency, and pragmatic abilities.
• Educate and counsel families on strategies to support their child's communication development at home.
• Collaborate effectively with other therapists (OT, PT), educators, and medical professionals.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and reports.
• Stay current with advancements and research in pediatric speech-language pathology.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
• Adapt therapy techniques to suit diverse age groups and developmental levels.
• Advocate for the communication needs of children within the community and educational settings.
