About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Special Needs Caregiver with a strong pediatric focus to provide comprehensive support to a child with specific developmental needs in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This role involves working closely with the family and a team of therapists to implement individualized care plans designed to enhance the child's development, independence, and quality of life. The successful candidate will be a patient, proactive, and empathetic individual committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Key Responsibilities

• Providing direct care and support to a child with specific special needs, following prescribed care plans.
• Assisting with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
• Implementing therapeutic exercises and strategies as directed by therapists.
• Facilitating social interaction and participation in age‑appropriate activities.
• Monitoring the child's progress and reporting observations to the family and relevant professionals.
• Ensuring a safe and secure environment, adapting the surroundings as necessary.
• Collaborating with parents, therapists (e.g., occupational therapists, speech therapists), and educators.
• Administering medication as prescribed, under parental guidance and medical direction.
• Documenting care provided and the child's responses accurately.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Special Needs Caregiver, particularly with pediatric clients.
• Demonstrable knowledge of various disabilities and developmental challenges.
• Strong understanding of therapeutic interventions and care strategies for children.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
• High level of empathy, patience, and resilience.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR is mandatory.
• Background check and clean criminal record are required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of isiZulu is an advantage.
