Job summary

Network Finance in Midrand is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to join the team as second-in-command in payroll. You will oversee governance, compliance and controls, reviewing monthly outputs, reconciliations and journals while ensuring confidentiality with executive payroll processes.

The role requires 7–10 years SA payroll experience, Sage 300 People Certification, advanced Excel skills and strong knowledge of payroll accounting and legislation. A payroll diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
  • Payroll qualification or Payroll Diploma preferred.
  • Sage 300 People Payroll Certification is essential.
  • 7–10 years' South African payroll experience, including at least 3 years in a senior payroll, payroll controls or supervisory capacity.
  • Proven experience with payroll TYE and mid-year reconciliations, payroll governance, statutory compliance and payroll audits.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll accounting, control accounts, benefits administration and payroll legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee payroll governance, controls, risk management and compliance processes.
  • Review and approve monthly payroll outputs, reconciliations, journals and exception reports.
  • Ensure compliance with PAYE, UIF, SDL, BCEA, COIDA/FEM, POPIA and applicable payroll legislation.
  • Manage confidential and executive payroll processes with the highest level of discretion.
  • Review complex payroll calculations, including tax directives, backpay, leave pay-outs, retrenchments and settlements.
  • Lead payroll audit preparation and maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Oversee payroll-related benefits administration and third-party submissions.
  • Support annual salary increases, bonus implementations, remuneration projects and payroll system enhancements.
  • Prepare and evaluate salary review requests, promotions and increases for review by the Group Remuneration & Benefits Manager.
  • Supervise, coach and develop payroll team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement across payroll processes, controls and systems.

Are you an experienced payroll professional with a strong eye for detail and a passion for payroll compliance, governance and process excellence?

A well-established organisation is looking for a Payroll Supervisor to join its team in Midrand. Reporting to the Group Remuneration & Benefits Manager, this is a key role that will act as the second-in-command within the payroll function, ensuring accurate, compliant and well-controlled payroll operations.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.

Payroll qualification or Payroll Diploma preferred.
