Job summary

Emeris Newlands is offering a part-time lecturing position in Psychology, reporting to the Head of School of Humanities. The role requires delivering lectures for Psychology courses, providing student support, and contributing to module development.

Applicants must reside in Cape Town, with classes on campus between 08:00 and 17:00. Availability to lecture 2–3 days per week during the semester is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Honour’s degree in Psychology or an equivalent Humanities/Arts/Social Science Honours.
• Postgraduate Diploma (NQF level 8) is acceptable.
• Undergraduate qualification must include Psychology as a major (to at least 3rd year).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and conduct lectures, tutorials and workshops.
• Provide study guidance, learning support and mentoring to students.
• Develop module materials, including online resources.
• Mark and grade student assessments.
• Coordinate modules and ensure quality assurance.
• Handle related administrative duties for the discipline.

Minimum qualification

Therapeutic Interventions

Masters in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology or equivalent degree (Or Doctorate equivalent).

Emeris Newlands has a vacancy for a part-time lecturing post in the following:

Key Performance Areas:

• Preparation, conducting of lectures, tutorials, workshops.
• Providing study guidance, learning support, consultation and mentoring of students;
• Initiation and development of module materials, including on-line materials;
• Marking and grading of student assessments;
• Module coordination and quality assurance;
• A range of administrative functions connected to the discipline and modules being taught;
• Other duties commensurate to the position as required.

Other Job Requirements:

• Demonstrate capability to lecture at tertiary level in an effective manner in the core courses stipulated at the highest academic level;
• Expertise in e-learning programs such as Blackboard and Moodle;
• Demonstrated capacity to design, set and evaluate assessments at the appropriate level for the courses stipulated;
• High level of communication skills in verbal, written and electronic modes; and
• Proven high-level administrative abilities.

Working Conditions:

• Please note that this is an Independent Contractor role
• Positions arepart-time, with lectures taking place between 08:00 and 17:00.
• Must reside in Cape Town (All classes presented on-Campus)
• Applicants must be available to lecture for 2 -3 days (within business hours) within a week for the duration of the semester.
