Wynberg Boys’ High School is seeking a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Senior Phase Drama and Art Teacher to teach Grades 8–9, with a strong emphasis on Drama and performance. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing learners’ creativity, confidence and theatrical skills, with the ability to teach Visual Art as a supporting subject.

The successful candidate will contribute to school cultural activities while supporting the school’s values, ethos and commitment to holistic learner development.

Key Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Dramatic Arts and/or Visual Arts, together with a PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Appropriate subject knowledge and ability to teach both Drama and Art at Senior Phase level (Grades 8–9).
• Teaching experience will be an advantage.
• Current SACE registration.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach Drama, developing learners’ performance, improvisation, characterisation, voice projection and stagecraft skills.
• Direct, workshop and devise productions, encouraging creativity and confidence.
• Teach Visual Art, including drawing, painting, composition, art techniques and art appreciation.
• Plan lessons, assess learner progress and maintain assessment records.
• Contribute to the School’s cultural programme and uphold its values and ethos.
• Be innovative, embrace technology in the classroom and display a creative teaching style.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as contribute to the broader team.
• Willing to contribute to the wider life of the school.
