Job summary

Placements24 is offering an exciting Internship opportunity for a driven Graduate Civil Engineer with a passion for Structural Design in Queenstown. The program provides on-the-job training and mentorship, allowing practical experience in structural engineering on diverse projects in the Eastern Cape.

You will work with experienced engineers on design and analysis of structural elements, gaining exposure to building and infrastructure projects and learning South African codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Recently completed or nearing completion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on structures.
• A keen interest in structural engineering and a strong desire to learn.
• Familiarity with fundamental principles of structural mechanics and materials.
• Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and an aptitude for learning structural analysis software.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a remote team.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in the structural analysis and design of building components (e.g., beams, columns, slabs).
• Prepare basic structural drawings and details using CAD software under supervision.
• Conduct site visits to observe construction methods and gather information for design work.
• Support the team in developing technical specifications and reports.
• Learn and apply relevant South African structural design codes and standards.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to team discussions.
