Job summary

Staff Solutions is seeking an experienced Packhouse Operations Manager to lead a citrus packing facility. You will develop and execute strategies to ensure efficient packhouse operations, monitor KPIs, and drive continuous improvements while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

The role requires a tertiary qualification in production/operations management or engineering, 10+ years in production with 5+ in supervision, and strong people leadership and communication skills to engage with

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Production, Operations Management, Engineering or a related field.
• Proficient computer skills, with practical experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a production environment, preferably within the citrus industry, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with employees, management and other stakeholders.
• Sound understanding of quality, food safety, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems (BRC, HACCP, ISO, SIZA, GlobalG.A.P.).

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute effective operational strategies and plans to support the efficient functioning of the packhouse.
• Drive the achievement of packhouse targets by monitoring performance against KPIs and operational objectives.
• Provide strong leadership, direction and motivation to the packhouse team to ensure productivity and performance standards are consistently achieved.
• Oversee and coordinate the daily packing programme in line with priorities and requirements established by the Marketing department.
• Ensure all packed products meet specified quality standards, customer requirements and market specifications.
• Manage personnel effectively, ensuring adherence to company procedures, policies and employment standards.
• Maintain high standards of product quality, food safety, hygiene and sanitation throughout packhouse operations.
• Monitor and control operational expenditure, ensuring packhouse costs stay within approved budgets.
• Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure packhouse activities comply with quality, OH&S, environmental and regulatory standards.
