Job summary

The South African Breweries is seeking aMaintenance Technician to maintain, repair and optimise plant and related equipment to maximise availability and product quality at minimum cost.

The role covers operational support, planned and routine maintenance, problem solving, and safety compliance, with emphasis on downtime reduction and continuous improvement in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Qualifications

• N6 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or higher qualification is required.
• Trade test qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Millwright.
• Knowledge or experience of working in a production environment, particularly FMCG, is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist support for coaching, mentoring and knowledge transfer of machine operation to shift-based teams.
• Participate in standby and day shifts, offering expert advice when needed.
• Assist as a functional expert in problem solving for the plant and support to the zone.
• Partake in regional and central office plant optimisation trials.
• Support process artisans with machine operation, fault finding and correct responses to failure modes.
• Upskill process artisans with latest standard operating instructions for machine setups or restorations.
• Take part in maintenance planning meetings and help ensure backlog hours meet requirements.
• Carry out work during planned maintenance windows and assist others in these tasks.
• Participate in postmortems to feedback problems and learnings from maintenance activities.
• Maintain safety, adhere to AB InBev policies, and apply 5S principles.
