Job summary

SAB is seeking a Packaging Machine Specialist to maintain, repair, and optimize packaging equipment in a fast-paced FMCG plant in Gauteng. The role supports shift teams, conducts fault analysis, and drives improvements to reduce downtime.

The ideal candidate has strong PLC skills (Siemens/AB), instrumentation knowledge, and a track record of root-cause analysis. Standby and after-hours support are required to keep production flowing.

Qualifications

• N6 Electrical/Instrumentation qualification or higher is required.
• 3–5 years FMCG experience preferred.
• Strong PLC knowledge with Siemens and AB.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist support for coaching, mentoring, and knowledge transfer of machine operation to shift teams.
• Assist as a functional expert in plant problem-solving and regional optimization trials.
• Support process artisans on machine operation, fault finding, and correct responses to faults.
• Upskill artisans with SWI for machine setups or restorations.
• Participate in Line Clean and Tag exercises.
• Participate in maintenance planning meetings and ensure workload is scheduled.
