Job summary

Valterra Platinum Limited, a leading PGM producer with operations in SA, seeks an HR Generalist to maintain HR practices and data quality at the Rustenburg base metal refinery. You will support employee relations, performance, benefits, onboarding and regulatory compliance within a mining context.

The role requires a HR generalist background, labour management experience, and SAP HR proficiency, with additional tools such as Navigator+ and EMB knowledge being advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management or Industrial Psychology is required.
• Postgraduate degree in HR management or Industrial Psychology is desirable.
• Experience as an HR generalist, especially with contractor and labour management, is essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain P&O practices, systems and data quality within the operation.
• Provide HR policy interpretation and employee relations guidance to managers and staff.
• Support Talent Management, performance management and Employee Benefits processes.

Job Description

The generalist role is responsible for the maintenance of all P&O practices, systems, and data quality within the operation.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Safety

• Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.

Performance and Delivery

• Provide advice and support to employees and line managers on a broad range of people & organisation related matters including the interpretation of policies, procedures and terms and conditions of employment.
• Supports line managers and employees by providing credible Employee Relations advice and support including participating in disciplinary and grievances processes.
• Ensures effective implementation of Talent Management, performance management and Employee Benefits processes in support of the organisation’s EVP initiatives.
• Provides talent-sourcing support to ensure recruitment of suitable and top talent for the operation.
• Supports the implementation of the approved operational blueprints and guard against unplanned labour resources.
• Engages and supports line managers in reducing labour unavailability by continuously tracking and monitoring including identifying root cause analysis and providing reports.
• Supports the planning and implementation of Team + Process.
• Implement operational effective Onboarding and off boarding.

People & Teams

Compliance

• Ensure compliance to Valterra Platinum internal and external regulatory, legislative and permitting requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in Human Resources management or Industrial Psychology.
• Post Graduate Degree Human Resources management or Industrial Psychology is desirable.

Certifications

• Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s license

Experience

• HR generalist experience essential, specifically with contractor and labour management
• Experience in mining or related environment advantageous
• Computer literate for role including SAP HR
• Knowledge and experience with Navigator+ and the Electronic Manning Board (EMB) will be an added advantage

• Proficient in labour management planning processes.
• Proficient in Talent Management processes and implementation.
• Proficient with interpreting and understanding of SA transformation legislation requirement.
