Job summary

University of Fort Hare in Pretoria is seeking an experienced Outbound Logistics Operator for a 6-month fixed-term contract. You will receive, move and prepare raw materials for production, and assist with loading and unloading trucks in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires Grade 12, at least 2 years’ relevant experience, forklift training, and good English. Knowledge of food safety and allergen management is advantageous; MS Office skills are helpful.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• At least 2 years' relevant work experience.
• Training or experience in operating lifting equipment / forklifts.
• Knowledge of food safety and allergen management principles advantageous.
• Good English communication skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office advantageous.
• Ability to work safely and accurately in a production or logistics environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and other lifting and material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Receive, move and prepare raw materials for production planning.
• Load and offload trucks.
• Identify and distinguish between allergen and non-allergen products.
• Segregate and prepare reprocessable stock for production planning.
• Maintain a clean, sanitised and organised work area.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and allergen management requirements.
• Identify and immediately report any food safety risks or concerns to the relevant manager.
• Follow all Health and Safety procedures and wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Follow company policies, procedures and work instructions.
• Assist colleagues and other departments when required.
• Support environmental and sustainability initiatives within the workplace.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as instructed by management.
