Job summary

BCXP is seeking an Ops Specialist : Tech Business Analyst (App Mod) to bridge legacy mainframe behaviour with modern .NET architecture. The role collaborates with architects and developers to translate business logic into technical specifications.

You will analyse legacy systems, define interface mappings, and support data migration strategies in a hybrid Agile-Waterfall context, with a strong focus on quality and validation.

Qualifications

• 3-year Degree/ Diploma in Computer Science or Information Systems (NQF 6).
• 5–10+ years as BA / System Analyst on complex enterprise systems.
• Familiar with Agile delivery approaches and hybrid environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyse legacy Natural/ADABAS code, data structures and system interfaces to extract embedded business rules and technical activities.
• Document the technical requirements, interface specifications, and functional rules for the modern C#/.NET architecture.
• Collaborate with Data Architects to define data migration rules, transformation logic, and validation criteria.
• Work with Integration and Solutions Architects to document interface mappings, ESB service contracts, and integration scenarios.
• Support the development of official data models and API specifications by providing functional context from legacy systems.
• Develop detailed use cases, system interaction diagrams and technical acceptance criteria to support design and testing.
• Participate in backlog grooming and solution design sessions, ensuring that technical stories reflect legacy requirements.
• Review and validate developed components to ensure functional correspondence with legacy behaviour and business expectations.

The Technical Business Analyst role focuses on system behaviour, data structures, interface mappings, migrationrulesand functional equivalence between the legacy and modern system(s).

The technical BA works closely with architects and developers to ensure that business logic and system functionality are accurately translated during the rewrite.

Minimum Qualifications

NQF 6: 3 year Degree/ Diploma/ National Diploma in Computer Science or Information Systems

Additional Education -Preferred /Advantage

Experience

5 – 10+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst / System Analyst on complex enterprise systems.

Strong understanding of legacy mainframe environments (Natural/ADABAS), datamodelsand integration patterns.

Exposure to C#/.NET or equivalent environments will be an advantage.

Familiar with Agile delivery approaches and tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jira), while able to work in hybrid Agile-Waterfall transformation contexts.
