Job summary

Weir Minerals is seeking a Crane Operator for our Port Elizabeth site. You will operate machines according to safety instructions and support loading and unloading on the overhead crane.

You will follow PPE rules, assist machinist, deburr parts, and help maintain the machine. A strong safety mindset and ability to read documents are essential.

Matric and crane operating experience are required; overhead crane license is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate machines / equipment in accordance with safe work instructions.
• Adhere to required protective clothing rules and ensure PPE is worn at all times.
• Safely load and unload parts on/off machine centers with an overhead crane.
• Deburring of sharp edges and cleaning of parts.
• Assist machinist with clamping/unclamping parts on the machine.
• Assist machinist with cleaning of the machine and removing swarf to designated skips.
• Demonstrate 100% commitment to zero harm safety culture.

What You’ll Do

• Operate machines / equipment in accordance with safe work instructions.
• Adhere to required protective clothing rules and ensure appropriate PPE is worn at all times.
• To safely and efficiently load and unload parts on/off machine centers with an overhead crane, including the turning over the part.
• Deburring of sharp edges and the cleaning of the parts.
• Assist the machinist with clamping and unclamping parts on the machine.
• Assist the machinist with the cleaning of the machine, including the removal of swarf and transfer thereof to the designated skips.
• Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.

What You’ll Bring

• Matric (Grade 12).
• Previous experience as a crane operator.
