The role emphasizes budgeting, vendor management, and continuous improvement to enhance member experience and operational excellence in the Leisure & Sports sector. Weekend/evening work may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in operations management.

This vital role oversees the day-to-day management of the facility, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of all services and activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facility management, staff supervision, budget control, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and member satisfaction. You will be instrumental in optimizing operational efficiency, enhancing the member experience, and contributing to the overall success of the facility within the competitive Leisure & Sports market. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership and a proactive approach to managing a diverse operational landscape in Midrand.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of daily facility operations, including maintenance, cleaning, security, and guest services.
• Manage and lead a diverse team of operational staff, including supervisors, maintenance personnel, and front-desk staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to company policies.
• Develop, implement, and monitor operational budgets, controlling expenses and identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Manage vendor relationships, including procurement of supplies, equipment maintenance contracts, and service agreements.
• Develop and refine operational procedures and protocols to enhance efficiency, service quality, and member satisfaction.
• Oversee inventory management for operational supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate with other department heads (e.g., Programming, Marketing) to ensure seamless integration of services and events.
• Handle member inquiries and resolve operational issues promptly and professionally.
• Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs for all facility assets to ensure optimal working condition.
• Contribute to strategic planning for facility improvements and capital expenditure projects in Midrand, Gauteng, ZA.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably within the sports, leisure, or hospitality industry.
• Proven experience in managing departmental budgets and controlling operational expenses.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate a diverse team of employees.
• Strong understanding of facility maintenance, health and safety regulations, and risk management.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in using facility management software and standard office applications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, members, and vendors.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Facility Management, Sports Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as operational demands require.
