Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly capable Operations Manager to oversee the efficient and safe functioning of their solar farm facilities in the Paarl area. This critical role involves managing all aspects of plant operations, including performance monitoring, maintenance scheduling, compliance, and team leadership. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal energy generation and asset longevity, playing a vital part in the success of our renewable energy portfolio in the Western Cape. The ideal candidate possesses strong operational management skills and a solid understanding of solar technology and its maintenance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the solar farm, ensuring peak performance and energy output.
• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies, including preventative and corrective maintenance plans.
• Oversee a team of technicians and site staff, providing direction and support.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor system performance using SCADA and other monitoring tools, analyzing data to identify efficiencies.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes for operational needs.
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical), Operations Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in operations management, specifically within the renewable energy sector, preferably solar.
• Proven experience in managing operational teams and budgets.
• Strong understanding of solar PV technology, electrical systems, and maintenance best practices.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and performance monitoring software.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
