Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business administration or related field.
• 5–7 years of progressive operations leadership in logistics/warehousing.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to develop and implement operational strategies and process improvements.
• Knowledge of SA transport and logistics regulations is advantageous.

About the Role

Our client, a major player in the logistics and distribution sector, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Operations Manager to lead their key hub in Polokwane. This vital role involves overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory management, shipping, receiving, and personnel management, to ensure maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the logistics hub, ensuring efficient and timely processing of goods.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
• Manage and lead a diverse team of warehouse staff, fostering a culture of performance, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure accurate inventory management and control, implementing robust tracking and auditing processes.
• Oversee shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulations.
• Implement and enforce stringent health and safety standards within the warehouse environment.
• Manage operational budgets, control expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with other departments, including transportation, sales, and customer service, to ensure seamless operations.
• Utilize WMS (Warehouse Management System) and other technologies to optimize operations.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on operational performance to senior management.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in operations management within a logistics or warehousing environment.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large teams and driving performance.
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, WMS, and logistics best practices.
• Proven ability to develop and implement operational strategies and process improvements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment located in Polokwane.
• Knowledge of South African transport and logistics regulations is advantageous.
