Job summary

Omnia Group is seeking an Operations Foreman (Opencast Mine) in Gamsberg, Northern Cape, South Africa. The role focuses on managing customer accounts with emphasis on sales and service alignment to regional goals, while supporting sustainable, profitable operations.

As part of the team, you will coordinate resources, supervise equipment like rollers and presses, and implement cost-saving initiatives aligned with departmental objectives. A strong emphasis on safety and training is essential.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is the minimum educational requirement.
• Blasting Ticket is mandatory.
• Ms Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email) proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with internal and external customers to assess needs and plan operations accordingly.
• Plans and organises the availability of resources to meet customer requests.
• Ensures assets are protected from theft and damage.
• Responsible for operation of rollers, bending press and Guillotine.
• Organises, schedules and coordinates building of explosive truck tanks to facilitate timely deliveries.
• Administers stocks and ensures stock availability with up-to-date paperwork.
• Ensures all administration, documents and storage of information are kept according to standards.
• Provides inputs into annual budgeting for the department.
• Identifies cost-saving initiatives balancing customer requirements.
• Ensures necessary incident investigations take place.
• Ensures staff training is up to date.
• Monitors environmental impact of production processes and ensures staff are informed.
• Plans recruitment for suitable employees.
• Schedules daily/weekly/monthly work/shift allocations.
• Ensures induction for new staff and appropriate training.

ROLE IMPACT

Manage the customer accounts focusing on both sales and service in support of the region's goals and
objectives and achieving a sustainable and profitable region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works closely with internal and external customers in order to assess needs and plan operations accordingly
• Plans and organises the availability to resources, in order to meet customer's requests
• Ensures that the assets of the company are protected from theft and damage
• Responsible for the operation rollers, bending press and Guillotine
• Organises, schedules and coordinates building off explosives truck tanks in order tofacilitate the smooth, timeous flow of deliveries.
• Administers stocks and continuous stock availability by ensuring that paperwork such as store stock are up to date and reconciled
• Ensures that all administration, documents, storage of information are kept according to BME standards
• Provides inputs into the annual budgeting process in line with the objectives of the department
• Identifies cost saving initiatives while balancing customer requirements
• Ensures that the necessary incident investigations take place
• Ensures that required staff training is up to date
• Ensures that the impact of production processes on environment are understood by staff and appropriately monitored
• Ensures that suitable employees are recruited
• Plans daily/ weekly/ monthly scheduling of work/shift allocations
• Ensures induction for new staff members
• Ensures that all staff are given the required training in accordance with work requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Blasting Ticket (mandatory)
• Ms Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email)

Experience

• 5 years demonstrated experience as Truck Operator or Blaster (including surface mining, blasting, blast reports, seismograph
• 3 years demonstrated experience in supervising employees
• 3 years demonstrated experience in responsibility for managing costs
• Ensures that systems, processes and procedures are in place and managed to ensure timely maintenance is performed on equipment and vehicles.
• Plans, coordinates and schedules maintenance
• Ensures that regular inspections are conducted on Boiler shop equipment Implements controls and does inspections to assess correct usage of PPE or equipment and to take the necessary actions
• Implements controls to ensure that maintenance and repair work has been satisfactorily conducted
