ROLE IMPACT
To manage and control the day-to-day operations of the PPE Store, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, issuing, and inventory management of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and workwear. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining stock accuracy, ensuring compliance with company safety standards, and providing effective support to employees by ensuring the availability of appropriate PPE.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the receipt, inspection, and verification of PPE deliveries against purchase
- orders and delivery notes.
- Ensure all PPE is stored correctly and in accordance with manufacturer
- recommendations.
- Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels of PPE and workwear.
- Conduct weekly cycle counts and participate in biannual stocktakes.
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies and inventory variances.
- Analyse PPE consumption trends and make recommendations for inventory
- optimisation.
- Improve issue and replenishment processes.
- Accountable for maintaining PPE stock accuracy above agreed targets
- Responsible for ensuring optimal stock holdings through forecasting and
- consumption analysis.
- Participate in Lean, Continuous Improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Accountable for reducing stock variances, write-offs, and stock losses.
- Monitor and manage slow-moving, obsolete, and excess PPE inventory.
- Prepare monthly KPI reports and present inventory performance to management.
- Maintain KPI performance relating to stock accuracy, service levels, inventory
- variance, and PPE availability.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Self-management and prioritization of daily activities.
- Ability to make routine operational decisions within established procedures.
PPE Issuing and Administration
- Ensure PPE is issued in accordance with company policies, procedures, and entitlement schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of PPE issued to employees.
- Monitor replacement cycles and track PPE usage trends.
- Capture all stock transactions accurately on the inventory management system.
- Generate and submit stock and usage reports as required.
- Transfer PPE and related inventory between designated storage locations and operational areas as required.
- Coordinate and execute stock movements while ensuring accurate system transactions and traceability.
- Safely handle, load, unload, and transport inventory in accordance with company procedures and safety requirements.
Store Operations
- Ensure effective housekeeping and organization of the PPE Store.
- Coordinate the preparation and distribution of PPE to various departments.
- Ensure damaged, expired, or obsolete PPE is identified, quarantined, and disposed of in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor supplier performance in relation to PPE quality and delivery requirements.
- Must be physically capable of handling and moving stock within prescribed safety limits.
- Ability to spend extended periods standing, walking, bending, and conducting stock counts.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all PPE issued complies with legal, company, and industry safety standards.
- Maintain accurate audit trails and supporting documentation.
- Support internal and external audits relating to PPE inventory and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements within the store environment.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12
- National Diploma related to inventory, stores, procurement or logistics (Advantageous)
Experience
- Experience in a store environment an advantage
- Experience in a factory environment an advantage
- Minimum 3-5 years stores/warehouse experience.
- Minimum 2 years inventory control experience.
