To grow online sales, profitability and brand visibility across key South African eCommerce accounts by personally managing day-to-day marketplace operations, optimising product content, executing promotions and ensuring strong operational performance. The role requires practical, hands-on use of Takealot (TAL) and other online retail systems, together with a sound understanding of the South African online business environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Online Key Account and Platform Operations
- Manage the day-to-day operational requirements of Takealot (TAL) and other assigned online retail or marketplace accounts.
- Work directly in online portals to create and maintain products, update pricing, load promotions, manage orders and resolve platform queries.
- Maintain accurate account information, trading terms, product availability and operational settings across platforms.
- Build effective working relationships with marketplace buyers, account contacts and operational support teams.
2. Sales and Revenue Growth
- Deliver monthly, quarterly and annual sales, margin and sell-through targets for assigned online accounts.
- Develop and execute account plans covering assortment, pricing, visibility, promotions and growth opportunities.
- Identify gaps in range, content, pricing or availability and take prompt corrective action.
- Support commercial negotiations, promotional submissions and account-specific trading activities.
3. Product Listings and Content Optimisation
- Create and maintain high-quality product listings, including titles, specifications, descriptions, images, categorisation and enhanced content.
- Apply marketplace search and SEO principles to improve product discoverability, traffic and conversion.
- Ensure product information is accurate, consistent, compliant and aligned with brand standards.
- Troubleshoot suppressed, rejected, duplicated or incomplete listings and follow through to resolution.
4. Campaigns, Promotions and Digital Visibility
- Plan, load and execute online promotions, deals and seasonal campaigns in line with the commercial calendar.
- Coordinate campaign mechanics, pricing, stock, creative assets and platform deadlines with internal stakeholders.
- Monitor campaign performance and make hands‑on adjustments to improve visibility, conversion and return on investment.
- Support sponsored advertising, retail media or paid marketplace activity where applicable.
5. Inventory, Orders and Fulfilment
- Monitor demand, stock availability, replenishment, fulfilment performance and ageing inventory for online accounts.
- Work with supply chain, warehouse and planning teams to reduce out-of-stock and overstock situations.
- Track order exceptions, delivery issues, returns and cancellations, and coordinate corrective action.
- Ensure platform service-level requirements and fulfilment standards are consistently met.
6. Performance Analysis and Reporting
- Track and analyse sales, margin, traffic, conversion, sell‑through, stock, returns and advertising performance.
- Use platform dashboards, Excel and internal reporting tools to identify trends, risks and growth opportunities.
- Prepare accurate weekly and monthly reports, forecasts and action plans for management.
- Translate data into practical actions and follow through on implementation.
7. Customer Experience and Account Health
- Monitor customer ratings, reviews, returns and feedback, and coordinate action on recurring concerns.
- Maintain strong account-health, content-quality, fulfilment and service-level metrics.
- Escalate and resolve operational issues that may affect customers, sales or the brand's online reputation.
8. Cross-functional Coordination and Compliance
- Work closely with sales, marketing, finance, customer service, supply chain, warehouse and product teams to execute online account requirements.
- Ensure online activity complies with company policies, agreed pricing, marketplace rules and relevant South African consumer and data‑protection requirements.
- Maintain clear records of promotions, pricing approvals, account queries and agreed actions.

Education
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business, Sales, Marketing, eCommerce or a related field.
Experience
- 3-6 years' practical experience in eCommerce, online key accounts, marketplace sales or digital retail operations.
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience using Takealot (TAL) seller, supplier or marketplace systems is strongly preferred.
- Experience operating other online retail, marketplace or vendor portals in South Africa.
- Sound knowledge of the South African online retail landscape, commercial practices and customer expectations.
- Experience in home appliances, consumer electronics, FMCG or a related product environment is advantageous.
Technical and Functional Skills
- Strong working knowledge of marketplace operations, product listings, promotions, pricing, orders and account‑health management.
- Advanced Excel and reporting capability, with confidence working with large data sets and commercial dashboards.
- Good understanding of marketplace SEO, search ranking, conversion optimisation and digital advertising metrics.
- Strong commercial awareness, analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective negotiation, stakeholder management and written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
