Job summary

University of Fort Hare seeks an On-Site Service Technician for a permanent vacancy based in Cape Town, Western Cape. The role requires 1–3 years electrical and maintenance experience with a valid driver’s license and solid computer literacy.

The successful candidate will manage chemical stock rooms, maintain equipment, and ensure health and safety practices while supporting daily plant operations. Salary is market related.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent; 1–3 years electrical experience.
• 1–3 years maintenance experience; use of power tools.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Computer literacy: MS Office; familiarity with virtual programs (MS Teams, Zoom).
• Presentable with excellent communication and coordinating skills; able to meet deadlines.
• Able to work independently and in a team; handle pressure well.

Responsibilities

• Ensure chemical storage areas are neat and stock is properly allocated.
• Record stock received and issued; maintain stock rotation.
• Keep records of detergent usage and stock in relevant departments.
• Perform weekly stock counts and report to Management.
