Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Legal Officer in Rustenburg, North West, to manage on-ground legal and compliance matters within a mining services context. The role requires Admitted Attorney or Advocate status or a candidate attorney with at least 3 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney or Advocate, or candidate attorney with ≥3 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of South African corporate law and mining regulatory requirements.
• Excellent contract review and drafting abilities.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure compliance with mining, environmental, and corporate regulations.
• Review, draft, and manage contracts, agreements, and leases.
• Support litigation and dispute resolution processes.
• Conduct legal research and provide timely advice on operational matters.
• Maintain accurate legal documentation and compliance records.
• Assist with regulatory filings and reporting obligations.
• Deliver compliance training to staff.
• Liaise with government authorities and regulators.
• Support due diligence for new projects and acquisitions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by General Counsel or Senior Legal Advisor.
