Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician for our client in Upington, Northern Cape. The role focuses on practical implementation of civil designs for site services, including water, sewer, and stormwater reticulation for new developments, with oversight of site works.

The ideal candidate has a National Diploma or BTech in Civil Engineering, at least four years’ experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD, with on-site supervision and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or BTech in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Tech Eng or Techni Eng is preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on site services and infrastructure construction.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and basic understanding of civil design principles.
• Experience with site supervision and construction management.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials and methods relevant to infrastructure.
• Good understanding of site services layouts and standards.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and drafting of site services plans, including water, sewer, and stormwater systems.
• Provide technical support and supervision during the construction phase of infrastructure projects.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure work is performed according to design specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and site teams to resolve technical issues.
• Review shop drawings and material submittals.
• Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and project documentation.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations on site.
• Monitor project progress and report on site activities.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications for site personnel.
