Westfalia Fruit Estate in Limpopo, Tzaneen invites applications for an Occupational Health Practitioner. The role focuses on primary health care, safety compliance and first aid in a busy agricultural environment.

You will diagnose and manage work-related conditions, conduct medical surveillance, maintain records and support health campaigns while meeting SANC requirements and OH regulations.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing Sciences and valid SANC registration.
• B.Tech in Occupational Health Nursing.
• Dispensing license required.
• Minimum 2 years general nursing and 1 year OHN experience.
• Certificates in Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision Screening (advantageous).
• SAMTRAC or similar OH safety qualification (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat work-related conditions and coordinate chronic disease management.
• Identify workplace hazards and conduct health risk assessments.
• Attend to first aid and manage emergencies, maintaining equipment.
• Maintain patient records and manage medical inventory and equipment calibration.
• Participate in training and continuous professional development.

Occupational Health Practitioner

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Health Care

• Diagnose and treat work-related and non-work-related conditions.
• Coordinate chronic disease management.
• Manage incapacity and disability cases and elevate IODs appropriately
• Responsible for stock management

Occupational Health and Safety

• Conduct medical surveillance with accordance to medical surveillance program and matrix.
• Identify and manage workplace hazards.
• Coordinate Health Risk Assessments and support compliance with hearing conservation and health programs.
• Facilitate internal first aid training and replenishment of first aid box.
• Plan and support health awareness campaigns and peer educator training.

Emergency Care & Management

• Attend to first aid and medical emergencies promptly.
• Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are maintained.
• Report and manage IOD-related incidents effectively.

Administrative

• Maintain accurate patient records and reports (monthly/quarterly).
• Manage medical inventory and equipment calibration.
• Perform audits, inspections, and follow-up on findings.

Personal Development

• Participate in training and continuous professional development aligned with a personal development plan.

Education:

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing Sciences (required)
• B.Tech in Occupational Health Nursing (required)
• Valid SANC registration (required)
• Certificates in Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision Screening, HCT (advantageous)
• Dispensing License (required)
• SAMTRAC or similar occupational safety qualification (advantageous)
• Valid Driver’s License (advantageous)

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years general nursing experience and 1 year occupational health nursing experience
• Experience in occupational health services is highly beneficial
