Job summary

Mediclinic Southern Africa seeks an experienced Unit Manager to lead a nursing unit such as a surgical ward, ensuring safe patient care and a positive client experience. You will manage human and other resources to keep staff engaged and processes efficient.

The role requires a Professional Nurse qualification, postgraduate management qualifications or leadership experience, and strong clinical governance skills within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level nursing leadership required with clinical excellence.
• Experience in hospital leadership and service delivery.
• Knowledge of accreditation, risk management and quality processes.
• Familiarity with HR processes including staff relations and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe patient care by meeting clinical quality standards.
• Mitigate clinical risks within the unit.
• Lead and manage unit staff.
• Oversee unit operational and capital expenses per budget guidelines.
• Contribute to a positive client experience hospital-wide.
• Support achievement of interdepartmental outcomes.
• Maintain key stakeholder relationships.
