Job summary

Implats is seeking a Nursing Services Manager to design and oversee a nursing training framework across health facilities. You will ensure high standards of nursing practice through structured development and curricula design.

The role requires extensive nursing education experience, postgraduate qualifications, and strong leadership. You will coordinate training, manage staff, engage with universities, and ensure compliance with SANC and Department of Health standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have Grade 12/NQF4 or equivalent.
  • Nursing Diploma or Degree in nursing science is essential.
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.
  • Post graduate qualification in nursing education or equivalent is essential.
  • 3–5 years supervisory or management experience in nursing/healthcare.
  • 3–5 years of nursing education, clinical training, facilitation or staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates and monitors nursing training programmes to ensure ongoing professional development of nursing staff.
  • Identifies training needs and gaps among nursing personnel and develops applicable training interventions.
  • Ensures nursing staff have the knowledge, skills and competencies to deliver safe, quality patient care.
  • Develops and reviews nursing training curricula in line with standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates student allocation, orientation, supervision and evaluation in hospital/clinic settings.
  • Maintains relationships with universities, nursing colleges and training institutions.
  • Ensures compliance with SANC, Department of Health standards and internal policies.
  • Facilitates in-service training, clinical coaching, mentorship and competency assessments.
  • Monitors training attendance, records and competency outcomes.
  • Supports quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Provides guidance to nursing managers and staff on training matters.
  • Prepares reports on training activities, placements and development needs.
  • Ensures a training matrix and allocation of nurses for training.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To design, implement and maintain a nursing training framework that will enable well-structured training and development of nurses at the health facilities. To maintain high standards of nursing practice and health care services through continuous training and development; and the design of relevant and appropriate curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications And Requirements
  • Grade 12/NQF4 equivalent is essential
  • Nursing Diploma / Degree in nursing science is essential
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse is essential
  • Post graduate qualification in nursing education or equivalent is essential
  • 3–5 years' supervisory or management experience within a nursing or healthcare environment is essential
  • 3–5 years' experience in nursing education, clinical training, facilitation or staff development is essential
  • Must have a valid medical certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate
Competencies
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. SANC regulations
  • Knowledge of Department of Health regulations
  • Interpersonal relationship and leadership skills
  • SAP Knowledge
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Key Performance Areas

  • Supports quality improvement initiatives by ensuring nursing practice is aligned with approved standards, procedures and evidence-based care.
  • Provides guidance and support to nursing managers, supervisors and clinical staff on training-related matters.
  • Prepares reports on training activities, student placements, competency outcomes and development needs.
  • Ensures there is a training matrix plan and allocation of nurses for training and identifies appropriate courses.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with training institutions, universities and nursing colleges.
