Job summary

Millenium Park Retirement Village is seeking an Registered Nurse– Nursing Unit Manager (Head of Nursing Department) to lead the care team in a geriatric environment. The role includes holistic resident assessments, care plan development, and coordination with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will be SANC-registered, with strong experience in geriatric and dementia care, and the ability to manage 24/7 care delivery while ensuring compassionate, patient-centred service.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Experience in geriatric care is required or strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer's/dementia care is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Computer literacy is required.
• Must be willing to work shifts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct holistic assessments of residents, including physical, mental and social well-being.
• Plan and monitor person-centred care plans for all residents.
• Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to manage and review care plans.
• Participate in 24/7 care delivery as part of the care team.
• Maintain reporting and record-keeping in line with policies and legal requirements.

Requirements for this position

Position Summary & Duties

The appointed Registered Nurse will form part of the care team and will, among other responsibilities, be responsible for:

• The ongoing holistic assessment of residents, including their physical, mental, and social well-being.
• Planning, implementing, and monitoring person-centred care plans for all residents within Millenium Park, whether carried out directly or indirectly.
• Consulting with and coordinating a multidisciplinary team responsible for managing and reviewing residents’ care plans.
• Managing and participating in teams delivering care in a 24/7 environment.
• Performing duties and responsibilities in accordance with his/her professional scope of practice, including but not limited to:
  • Managing a skilled workforce
  • Medication management in accordance with prescriptions and regulations
  • Accurate reporting and record-keeping in line with organisational policies and legal requirements
