Jhbchev is seeking an experienced Nursing Unit Director to provide clinical leadership across elderly care operations. The role ensures safe, person-centred, high-quality care and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

You will oversee Unit Managers and Enrolled Nurses, drive audits, staffing, budgeting and quality improvement initiatives within the facility.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
  • Current SANC registration.
  • Minimum 5 years’ nursing experience, preferably in geriatric/frail care.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ nursing management or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance, nursing standards and relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight to all nursing units.
  • Manage, supervise and support Unit Managers and Enrolled Nurses.
  • Ensure consistent standards of nursing care and clinical governance.
  • Monitor resident safety, clinical risks, incidents, medication management and infection prevention.
  • Conduct regular clinical audits and implement quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, rostering and effective workforce utilisation.
  • Manage staff performance, discipline, development and training in collaboration with HR.
  • Ensure compliance with SAN requirements, legislation, policies and facility procedures.
  • Support Unit Managers in managing complex clinical and resident-related matters.
  • Liaise with doctors, allied health professionals, residents and families.
  • Monitor nursing equipment, supplies and operational resources.
  • Participate in budgeting, planning and strategic development of nursing services.
  • Ensure effective emergency and after-hours clinical escalation processes.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork and person-centred care.
