Placements24 is seeking a proactive Media Relations Executive to join their Upington team. You will build and maintain strong media relationships, identify opportunities, and craft compelling press materials for a diverse client portfolio.

The role emphasizes local and regional media engagement across Northern Cape and beyond. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in securing media placements, excellent communication skills, and deep knowledge of the Northern Cape media landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in media relations or public relations, with a proven ability to secure media placements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong editing and proofreading abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement media relations strategies to enhance client visibility and reputation.
• Cultivate relationships with journalists, editors, producers, and bloggers.
• Pitch story ideas and secure positive media coverage across print, online, and broadcast channels.
• Draft and edit press releases, media advisories, and PR materials.
• Monitor media coverage and industry trends, reporting on key developments.
• Respond to media inquiries and manage interview requests professionally.
• Support organization of media events, press conferences, and client briefings.
• Collaborate with marketing and communications teams on consistent messaging.
• Assist in crisis communication plans development and execution.
• Maintain and update media contact databases.
