Placements24 is seeking a Research Fellow to join our neuroscience research team in Port Elizabeth. This role focuses on investigating mechanisms underlying neurological disorders and identifying potential therapeutic targets.

Under the guidance of senior researchers, you will conduct experiments in neurodegenerative disease, neuroinflammation, or neural plasticity, perform molecular and cell biology techniques, and contribute to data analysis and manuscript preparation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with neuroscience-related lab techniques.
• Familiarity with data analysis software and literature review.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experiments related to neurodegenerative diseases, neuroinflammation, or neural plasticity.
• Perform molecular biology, cell biology, and potentially behavioral neuroscience experiments.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data with accurate lab notebooks.
• Assist in preparing manuscripts, grant proposals, and presentations.
• Collaborate with team to troubleshoot experiments and plan projects.
• Maintain lab equipment and ensure safety compliance.
