Placements24 is seeking a Principal Research Scientist in Upington, Northern Cape, to lead neuroscience drug discovery and preclinical development. You will steer cross-functional teams, design in vitro and in vivo studies, and shape the strategic pipeline for novel therapeutics addressing CNS disorders.

The role demands a PhD and 8–10 years in neuroscience drug discovery, with a track record in advancing programs toward clinical development and strong publication credentials.

Qualifikationen

• Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Biology, or related discipline.
• 8–10 years in neuroscience drug discovery and development, preferably in pharma.
• Experience with preclinical models of neurological/psychiatric diseases.
• Strong understanding of CNS molecular/cellular mechanisms.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary research teams and projects.
• Excellent communication and publication track record; IND experience desirable.

Aufgaben

• Lead preclinical neuroscience drug development programs from validation to candidate selection.
• Oversee in vitro and in vivo studies to assess efficacy and safety of candidates.
• Identify and validate novel targets for neurological/psychiatric diseases.
• Collaborate with chemists, pharmacologists, toxicologists, and specialists to progress programs.
• Provide scientific leadership and mentorship to research teams.
• Develop strategies for preclinical development including biomarkers and assays.
• Contribute to regulatory documents and scientific publications.
