Job summary

Santam is seeking a Motor Desktop Assessor in Cape Town to support the Motor Claims department. You will determine claim merit, verify events, and negotiate settlements within delegated thresholds according to policy conditions and contracts.

Key responsibilities include accurate damage assessment from images and reports, cost‑effective repair decisions, and maintaining high estimating accuracy while meeting turnaround targets. You will service customers and brokers with professionalism.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 is required.
• Mechanical/Automotive qualification or equivalent.
• VDQGBSA membership is preferred.
• Audatex/Abuntex trained or similar tools advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years’ motor assessing experience.
• Technical skills and policy wording interpretation beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assess motor claims by reviewing images, reports and docs.
• Determine quantum and events with cost-effective decisions.
• Negotiate settlements within delegated thresholds and contracts.
• Maintain accuracy, turnaround times and reduce leakage.
• Ensure compliance with policies, governance and ethics.
• Deliver service to customers, brokers and internal teams.
