Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Mortgage Loan Officer in Paarl, Western Cape. You will originate and guide clients through the mortgage process from application to closing, maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring compliance with lending policies.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in mortgage sales, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and knowledge of SA lending regulations. A relevant degree and experience with Calyx Point or Encompass are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience as a Mortgage Loan Officer or in a similar sales role within the financial services industry.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding loan origination targets.
• Thorough understanding of mortgage lending principles, loan products, and underwriting guidelines.
• Knowledge of South African financial regulations (e.g., National Credit Act).
• Excellent sales, negotiation, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Generate new mortgage loan applications through networking, client referrals, and marketing efforts.
• Interview prospective borrowers to assess their financial qualifications and understand their borrowing needs.
• Advise clients on the various mortgage products and programs available.
• Guide borrowers through the entire loan application process, including collecting necessary documentation.
• Analyze borrower credit and financial information to determine loan feasibility.
• Ensure compliance with all lending policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with underwriters, processors, and closing agents to ensure timely loan closing.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mortgage market trends, interest rates, and competitor offerings.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with real estate agents, builders, and other referral sources.
• Provide exceptional customer service throughout the loan process and beyond.
