Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer for mining operations in Randburg. The role focuses on implementing health and safety policies, conducting inspections, identifying hazards, and ensuring compliance with SA mining regulations.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma or higher in OHS, at least 3 years of experience, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Minimum 3 years as Safety Officer, mining or heavy industry preferred.
• Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act and SA safety legislation.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to perform risk assessments and implement safety solutions.
• First Aid certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain health and safety management systems.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to identify risks and implement controls.
• Investigate incidents and near misses; prepare detailed reports and corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training to employees at all levels.
• Ensure compliance with SA occupational health and safety legislation and mining regulations.
• Promote a positive safety culture and employee participation.
