Job summary

Premier Human Capital Corporation has been retained to source an Operations Engineer for a well-established mining operation in the Shafts unit. The role ensures safe and healthy working conditions, optimal equipment operation and availability to meet production targets.

The candidate should have BEng/BSc (or diploma), relevant compulsory certificates, 2–4 years mining/plant experience, and strong project management skills.

Qualifications

• B Engineering / BSc Engineering / National Diploma is essential.
• Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is essential (2.13.3.1).
• 2 – 4 years’ operational experience within Mining/Plant is essential.
• Registration as a professional certificated engineer would be an advantage.
• Completion of a recognised 2-year junior engineering programme is essential.
• 2 to 3 years’ Project Management experience is desirable.
• A valid Medical Certificate, or the ability to be declared medically fit to obtain one, is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure zero harm to employees and the environment by meeting legal and SHEQ regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ensure equipment is well maintained and efficiently managed, with strong equipment availability to meet production targets.
• Ensure effective project delivery to enable future growth and reach production targets.
• Implement effective financial management processes.
• Apply effective people management methodologies, including people development (managing subordinate teams of between 200 and 400 employees).
• Apply engineering expertise and conduct effective design checks, applying appropriate specifications on equipment in line with quality and safety key criteria.
