Job summary

Zizwe Opencast Mining (Pty) Ltd in Rustenburg is seeking a qualified Mine Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our mine. You will drive production planning, pit design, scheduling and ensure safe, compliant ore extraction while delivering cost-efficient results.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency, a Mining Engineering degree, and at least eight years in open-pit mining, with strong leadership and client-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering (minimum requirement).
• Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency.
• Eight years’ experience in open-pit/mining operations.
• Own transport and a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass a medical assessment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the mine.
• Lead cost-efficient ore extraction and optimization.
• Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Develop weekly production schedules for the pit and plant.
• Oversee design and scheduling of pits.
• Provide effective leadership and maintain discipline; ensure customer satisfaction.

Zizwe Opencast Mining is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Mine Manager to lead the day-to-day management and operation of a mine in the Rustenburg area.

The successful candidate will provide operational leadership while ensuring safe, compliant and cost-effective ore extraction. The role includes managing production planning, pit design and scheduling, team performance and client satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the mine
• Lead the cost-effective optimisation and extraction of ore
• Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Develop weekly production schedules for the pit and plant
• Oversee pit design and scheduling activities
• Provide effective leadership, communication and management
• Maintain workplace discipline
• Ensure customer satisfaction

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• 3.1 Appointee in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Degree in Mining Engineering
• Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency
• Eight years’ experience in the opencast mining industry
• Own transport and a valid driver’s licence
• Ability to complete the required medical assessment
