Job summary

Salix Recruitment is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant for a mining and resources organisation with over 20 years in the sector. The role focuses on IFRS reporting, SA tax compliance (including Mining Tax and VAT) and group reporting.

You will interact with senior stakeholders while delivering statutory reporting and audit support. You will manage monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, liaise with SARS and auditors, and drive accuracy in financial statements and tax computations

Qualifications

• BCom degree in Accounting or Financial Management required.
• CA(SA) designation advantageous and beneficial for progression.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
• Prepare Annual Financial Statements.
• Provide a comprehensive financial accounting and statutory reporting function for the Ferrous division.
• Ensure accurate and timely delivery across all reporting cycles.
• Ensure financial provision for environmental rehabilitation and closure is in place.
• Oversee and maintain the overall tax compliance of the group and its subsidiaries.
• Ensure compliance with the Group Tax Policy.
• Compile tax computations and tax returns for the group and subsidiary companies.
• Manage relationships with SARS, auditors, banks, insurance providers and tax specialists.
• Attend to internal and external audit matters and ensure outstanding matters are resolved by the relevant stakeholders.
• Interpret and analyse financial data and translate findings into meaningful insights, narratives and recommendations.
• Support the financial management requirements of the business at both operational and group reporting level.

Education

BCom degree in Accounting or Financial Management

CA(SA) will be advantageous
