Placements24 is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant for a leading diversified mining group in Rustenburg, North West. The role centers on accurate IFRS reporting, general ledger integrity, and support for budgeting, forecasting and audits.

You will lead month-end close, enhance internal controls and mentor junior staff, while working in a hybrid setup that balances in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive financial accounting experience, ideally in mining/industrial sector.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and review IFRS-based financial statements monthly, quarterly and annually.
• Manage general ledger and ensure timely, accurate transactions.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable and cash flow management.
• Perform variance analyses and provide commentary on budget vs forecast.
• Assist in budgets and financial forecasts.
• Develop internal controls and safeguard assets.
• Support external audits with documentation and explanations.

About the Role

Our client, a leading diversified mining group, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team in Rustenburg, North West, ZA . The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, supporting complex financial analysis, and driving process improvements within the accounting function. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
• Manage the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.

• Conduct detailed variance analysis and provide insightful commentary on financial performance against budget and forecast.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.

• Support external audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting procedures.
• Mentor and guide junior accounting staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting, preferably within the mining or industrial sector.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African accounting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
