Job summary

Ca Global Headhunters is seeking a senior Financial Accountant for our mining investment client in Johannesburg. You will own the monthly close across multiple group entities, maintain accurate records in Xero/Sage, and support management reporting and audit readiness.

The role requires a CA(SA) or SAIPA with SAICA, plus senior post-articles experience and Afrikaans language ability. You will strengthen controls, drive VAT compliance, and provide detailed financial analysis while working

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting degree and professional qualification (CA(SA) with SAICA or SAIPA) are required.
• Excellent technical knowledge of accounting journals and close-senior post-articles experience is expected.
• Experience working across multiple companies, projects or business units is advantageous.
• Practical experience with month-end reporting, reconciliations, VAT and audit preparation.
• Proficiency with Xero, Sage or similar accounting software and advanced Excel skills are essential.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS/IFRS for SMEs and SA VAT and income-tax principles.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines.
• A senior, self-starting and independent thinker who works autonomously with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, post and review accounting journals across group entities and ensure correct period recording.
• Maintain accounting records and perform balance-sheet reconciliations for all group companies.
• Coordinate payment runs, supplier reconciliations and intercompany settlements.
• Prepare VAT reconciliations and support VAT submissions and statutory compliance.
• Reconcile intercompany loans and shared-service recharges, and allocate costs.
• Prepare project, transport and trading reconciliations and monitor spend vs budgets.
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, respond to auditor queries and assist with annual financial statements.
• Strengthen financial controls and maintain Excel Power Query reports and financial models.
