The role requires a trade qualification and at least 7 years of mining equipment maintenance experience with strong leadership and CMMS proficiency. You will drive maintenance strategies, manage spares, and mentor staff in a dynamic mining

About the Role

Our client, a prominent mining operation, is seeking an experienced and proactive Mining Equipment Maintenance Supervisor to lead their maintenance team in Kimberley, Northern Cape . This critical role involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of a vast array of heavy-duty mining equipment, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and longevity. You will be responsible for managing a team of mechanics and technicians, coordinating maintenance schedules, and implementing preventative maintenance strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment mechanics, excellent leadership qualities, and a thorough understanding of mining operations and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the daily activities of maintenance mechanics and technicians.
• Develop, implement, and manage preventative maintenance programs for all mining equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on mining machinery.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely and in compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
• Manage work order systems, track repair progress, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Oversee inventory management for spare parts and consumables.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to identify potential hazards.
• Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance staff.
• Collaborate with production management to minimize equipment downtime and maximize operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or relevant technical certification.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of mining or heavy construction equipment.
• Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a maintenance team.
• Extensive knowledge of mining equipment systems (e.g., underground loaders, drills, trucks, crushers).
• Strong understanding of hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems.
• Excellent knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the mining industry.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in using maintenance management software.
• Valid driver's license.
